SUMMARY:2024 National Crime Victims’ Rights
DESCRIPTION:Every April\, OVC leads communities throughout the country in their annual observances of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week (NCVRW). \nThrough NCVRW we honor crime victims and survivors\, recognize the professionals and volunteers who provide critical services to victims of crime\, and raise awareness about crime victims’ rights and services. \nWe are pleased to announce that NCVRW will be commemorated April 21–27\, 2024\, with the theme— \nHow would you help? \nOptions\, services\, and hope for crime survivors. \nThe 2024 theme asks all of us—friends\, family members\, neighbors\, colleagues\, community leaders\, victim service providers\, criminal justice practitioners\, and health professionals—how we can help crime victims. Are you prepared if someone confides in you about a victimization? Is your organization victim-centered and trauma-informed? Are you familiar with the services available in your community? \nThis year’s theme is a call-to-action for us all to create safe environments for crime victims to share what happened to them. By doing so\, we’re able to offer support\, options for life-saving services\, and\, most importantly\, hope. \nSign up for OVC’s NCVRW Subscription List to receive important NCVRW updates\, including information about the release of the 2024 NCVRW Resource Guide materials.

SUMMARY:New Data and New Ways of Thinking About Maintaining the Housing Stock in Middle Neighborhoods
DESCRIPTION:In this webinar\, we’ll hear from Harvard’s Joint Center for Housing Studies about data they analyze as part of their Remodeling Futures Program\, including remodeling trends by types of work and by income of homeowners.  Next we’ll listen to practitioners who do a lot of rehab work react to the data and talk about how they combine resources and strategies to motivate\, assist and shape the maintenance of housing stock for different types of homeowners. We will address questions like: \n\n\n· How does the remodeling industry segment the market by types and levels of remodeling?\n· What repairs\, replacements and discretionary updates are households prioritizing? How does that vary by income?\n· What do practitioners wish they would prioritize in order to maximize their potential for wealth creation and neighborhoods’ potential for continued success?\n· What are the barriers to different types of households in making needed repairs\, replacements and updates to their homes?\n· What strategies and resources are most successful in addressing those barriers to motivate and enable owner-occupants to make investments? \n\n\nPlease join us in this important conversation with your thoughts and experiences. \nPanelists: \n·      Sophia Wedeen\, Research Analyst\, Joint Center for Housing Studies\, Harvard \n·      Amber Lynch\, Executive Director\, Invest DSM\, Des Moines\, IA \n·      Paul Stewart\, Director\, Oswego Renaissance Association\, Oswego\, NY \nModerator: \nMarcia Nedland\, Organizer\, Middle Neighborhoods Community of Practice
